It's a good thing it was a chromis that jumped out and not your new Bluespot. Oh wait, you got coral instead of a new Bluespot? Do you need more pictures to help you focus? Have you tried the wire mesh stuff for the top instead of the egg crate (or on top of the egg crate). I still have glass on mine, but should open it up I guess.
