They can move? that is really cool though unexpected. I know they need target feeding and he has been at my lfs for probably 2 months. He has grown and trhrived there so I am hoping he will be happy here. So far he looks great and started expanding almost as soon as I got him in the water. Less than 24hrs later he looks almost as good as he did at the store.
I feed the whole tank mysis on a regualr basis. The scooter was just fine for a long time. in fact he is one of the few remaining original inhabitants so I am not sure why he is so skinny now. The only thing I can come up with is that he was the only real pod eater and now he has to share with the mandarin. I just set up an awesome 29g fuge for this very reason but I am afraid I may have been too late. I am going to the lfs tomorrow and buying two containers of pods (if they have them) and add one directly to the reef and the other to seed the fuge. Hopefully with this effort I can save him since the entire house will be heart broken if he dies.
And Woodstock of course it was the one Ralph had. The one we watched eat. It just looked so fabulous Saturday I could no longer resist.

He is beautiful already though I have him in the shade since I have more light than Ralph does on that tank. I didn't want to fry him and he is already expanded to about the size he was when you saw him. I will try my first target feeding with him tomorrow. I wanted to give him some time to settle in first.
I promise everybody I will take pics at least of the newbies tomorrow.

Have you ever tried to feed your scooter blenney mysis shrimp? I have one in my refugium that loves it.
Theres an article in the january Marine fish and Reef 2007 annual magazine about Fungiids, (plate corals) that was so interesting that i also went out and bought one. Mine has long tentacles and is called: Heliofungia actiniformis. prolly the same as yours. There said to be one of the hardest to keep fundiids and need really good water quality and feedings. Good luck with yours! I can't wait to see the pictures. Did you know they can move around?! See if you can get the mag. It's really interesting! |
