I like it as well....I would go with a mag 9.5 or larger if you can. As for the thought of dumping directly into the refuge, I would use a filter sock/pad to keep the junk out. Just keep it cleaned/replaced often. Its worth it to me to keep the carpet fibers, dust, and food out of the tank. Also, try and go with two delivery lines from the tank, just in case one gets a clog or you want to increase flow later...I am glad i did!!
