I have investigated this repeatedly and there seem to be mixed reviews on mangroves. From what I have gathered they are more or less like any of your plants you may keep in a fuge etc. They will remove the nitrates etc but they are stored in the leaves. If the leaves fall into the fuge the trates are released back into the water.
My lfs is trying them now so I am waiting a bit to see how they do for him then maybe try some in my system.
It would be great to hear some first hand experiences either good or bad.
