I'm going to resurrect this thread because I just realized that I do have a before photo of the bryopsis. 
The alk levels were high (16dKh) when this was taken, but I had not yet started to increase the magnesium level.
The BTA is the focal point of the photo, but it still shows the nice, healthy, thriving clumps of bryopsis surrounding it.
