Thanks. My daughter, Splendid, recently posted and when our "pool man" came by to clean the tank yesterday he told us that the unknown little critter was a - you guessed it - aiptasia. He sucked it out and I have my fingers crossed. But it was swimming around, jetting around like a little multi-legged squid or octopus, for 5 days, so heavens know what is lurkng.
Our tank is 110 gallons, and I don't know all the details, but we have two blue lights and two white ones (actinides ?). I am thinking about upgrading to halides so we can have some hard (stony?) coral. But that will require a chiller as well, and maybe we should start off slowly.
We just finished cycling about two weeks ago. We have several coral, including zooz and some green mushrooms, and six fish right now, including a yellow tang, an angel, a dart fish, and two wrasse including one that looks like a mandarin. I think my daughter has listed them. We've also got some sea snails, a hitchhiker bristle worm, what looks like some kind of hitchhiker slug that crawls up the glass, and I hope no aiptasia.
My oldest nephew started the Reef Protection Institute in San Frnacisco, and I fell into this hobby completely separate from that. In fact, I'm not even sure he knows that I have a reef tank yet. But it will be only environmentally safe and friendly animals for us.
This seems like a nice board. I post on another board for BMWs and we have a lot of fun there talking about cars and then getting together and seeing them. Here I suspect it's all in the pictures.
