It can take from a day or two to weeks. It depends on your substrate, filtration and water movement among other things. Everything has to settle. If you have any mechanical filtration like a hang on the back or canister remember to rinse out the filter frequently for the first several days. I've seen tanks with sugarfine sand that didn't become truly clear until the nitrogen cycle really got going. |
