Re: So it begins

Hi all its been a few weeks since i posted as Iv'e been trying to get up to speed on everything thats involved with reef keeping, And have come to the conclusion that if I live till I am 100 i will know very little lol, Anyway as you can see I have altered the tank quite alot, I now have about 25kg of fiji LR with 10 turbo snails,2 cleaner shrimps, some gorgeous metallic green xenia(doesnt show too well on my camera) some stunning blue mushrooms and a scooter blenny I finally decided on a Red sea prism skimmer due to lack of room and have found it less noisy than i expected and it seems to be doing ok, I know its not the best skimmer out there but as I said I had little choice at this stage, My PH is not very stable at the moment and I am having to use a buffer probably twice a week but my LFS said this is due to the newness of my tank and should stabilise with time also I had a calcium and magnesium test today, My calcium was 400 which I am told is good but I have low magnesium and so am adding magnesium slowly to bring to optimum levels, I thought I had researched fairly well before setting up but am now finding what a significant lack of knowledge I had so as always any tips are gratefully recieved, Anyway thats it for now I am now off to scour the forums for more information :-)
