| Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon. It's time to start documenting our new beginning.
As many of you know, the brace on our 46g bow broke last week and we had to run out that night and pick up a new tank.
We bought a 75 gallon reef ready AGA. The measurements are 48L X 18W X 20H.
When we set the tank up the following day we discovered that it was tilting to the wall about 1/2".
We had to build a platform for the aquarium to set on to make it level. We purchased several pieces of ply wood on Friday.
We had to cut about 17 pieces of the ply wood into a wedge shape to place in between the plywood that was cut for the platform.
After we finsihed (5 hours later), we took the platform in and placed it under the aquarium. We then checked it with a leveler (sp?) and it was level all around!
We started filling the tank mainly because we needed to make more water and had all buckets and the 30g container filled.
We also picked up some backing for the tank called OceanVisions. We applied that on Sunday. I think it looks pretty good.
Since Mark and I disagreed about what to do with the substrate issue. I wanted bare bottom, he wanted a sand bed. We decided to compromise and add about 2 inches of sand for the bottom.
Right now we are in the process of making our closed loop.
Pictures to soon follow. |
