The question of five fish being too much depends on the size of the fish. This is kind of obvious. What size and kinds of fish do you have in the system?

Generally, you are far beter off with less rather than more. It is possible to set up the filtration and water movement so that you can really overstock a system with fish, and have it all work. However the smallest error or problem will cause a total collapse of the system. This is not something I would recommend to anyone.

If you want more fish, or other livestock, get a larger system. It only takes a few losses at $20 to $50 and up per fish or coral to pay for the larger system you really need.
