Mick that is what I have always done... just poured ro/di water into the tank a few times a week - other add ATO (auto-matic-top -off) units

I keep a 1/2 gal. bottle of RO in the cabinet and top off up to 3 times a day (as needed) to keep the level I want in the viewing window. Topping off frequently avoids a drastic change in salinity or temp.

i am thinking to change my skimmer to a tunze 9002 latest model
A- is it worth changing
B- can i place it in the sump at the back where the existing stock skimmer sits.
C- will i be able to close the skimmer flap on my 130 D

I love mine. Skims better and quieter than the stock one. It will fit in the back but you will need to get the inTank media rack to attach it to, they go together very well and better the filtration. If you want the rear lid to close, get the inTank collection cup also.

Here is what it will look like...

Yes, yes and yes.

You can even close the flap with the stock 9002 cup, it will just have to sit a tad lower and have to adjust the air intake accordingly but very very minor. I actually liked the stock cup better on the 9002 cause it twist locked. But the inTank cup works good too, just the top gets pushed off sometimes.

Sounds nice Mick. You may end up really lighting up the tank all night unless you put them on a timer.
