I am assuming you want a lionfish. If you want to keep even a dwarf lionfish you are are going to need a tank about double the size your planning. If your talking about a volitan lionfish and similar species you'll need about a 120 gal tank. These fish get big and need space. Since they grow quickly they often can consume all the other fish in the tank. A lionfish can swallow a fish almost as large as it is.

Also, since they are venomous, I would not recommend keeping them if you have young kids in the house. Even if you lock a top down on the tank, kids have a way of finding a way into the tank.

All that being said, if you are prepared to meet the requirements of the fish and are willing to keep this up for many years, lionfish can be very interesting.
