I finally did it! I upgraded my two Nano reefs (a biocube 8 and a biocube 14 retro with diy led similar to waterproofs and a in tank refuge in chamber 1 and a sapphire skimmer in chamber 2, chem-pure, and phoseban under false floor) into one large mixed reef. I am so excited for all the diy projects to come and to watch the system grow :winner:

here is my first few video's!

I was really scared at first that I may lose some fish or corals but after it is all said and done it worked out. I wish I would of taken some more time testing the system before making the move but what can I say I was really excited to finally get it all put together it was sitting in my garage for a month while I cleaned it, painted it white instead of black that it was and drilled the glass. I was a little excited. Let me know what you guys thing of the system so far :)

If you want to follow the progress of my tank you can vew all new videos at my youtube chanel. Here is the link:mrthedog2012's Channel - YouTube

This system has been up and running for a while now and I figured I would skip some of the other basic videos and jump strait to some of the fun ones so here is a video of my tank after it completed its cycle and I was able to add some new fish! The other videos can be found at my YouTube sight which is found above.

Thanks for all the support. I sold my biocube 8 the very next day. I am keeping my biocube 14 since I went throw and added the led’s and skimmer and upgrade the return pump. I am thinking of making it into my own little frag tank for some sps and lps once mine grow out and I accumulate more. I am not really shire though. If I end up keeping it I won’t set it up for at least a year when I acutely need another tank. I still have a lot of upgrades I want to do with this system. I would be open to selling if though if the price was right.

Ok so I have a question. How would you guys go about painting the back of the tank black now that I have it set up? I can’t spray it but would use a roller to paint it black but would it look weird? Would you get lines that show throw? Could I paint it white? If so would there be any problems with a white background? What would look better a black background or a white background?

I would roll it with black paint and second coat it the following day, or a black piece of materal is an easy way to go and looks good as well.

I like black backgrounds it makes the tank pop, others like a blue, then there is this whole debate of the light that is absobed and not reflected off the darker paint but then again your not growing corals on the back side of your tank.

I have used black and blue background and never noticed a difference.
