You can put grounding probes but I’m not sure if you can put something in there to read it

It's possible to use a voltmeter to read the voltage between the probe and where ever your grounding it.

Here is the thing though. A small stray voltage isn't going to hurt you, but it can bother some species that you may be keeping in the tank.

There is also the safety issue. If you have any powered devices in the tank, and most of us do, it's fairly easy for the power cord to get damaged, and if that occurs, you gave full house current able to shock you. Obviously that can be fatal. The best solution here is to use GFI breakers or outlets to prevent this problem.

GFI does have one downside. It's easily tripped. You also don't want to loose power to your system. Having lost my entire tank several times when a GFI breaker tripped when I was away, I have a normal outlet next to the GFI one and plug critical pumps into the normal outlet when I'm going away.
