Salt Choice

When I first setup my tank 2 months ago the LFS sold me regular IO salt. They said it would be fine for my reef and corals, now that I have progressed further and researched a little bit it seems most reef tanks don't use just the basic salt so my question is, should I change to a better salt, if so which one? Also if and when I do change what is the best way to make that transition to the new salt in my tank?

I've used Instant Ocean for over 20 years......if you're desperate to spend more, their Reef Crystals have a decent reputation.

You are gonna get all kinds of different opinions on salt to use..... there is really isn't one brand that everyone uses over the others.... do a search for salt on here to see all the other threads on it....

As stated above this is a really, if not impossible question to get a consensus on. Do some research from the links above, transition to that salt and use it for about 2 years. At that point you can take another look at the salt and see if its meeting the needs of your tank.
