Hi all,

I'm around 7 days in to a new tank cycle and a little confused.

I started the tank last week with a lots of live cured rock and sand.

Filter section has no media other than the black sponge for the skimmer.

I started it last Saturday, by Monday the water was clear, however billions of little bubbles, on Tuesday it went mega cloudy, then on Thursday it had cleared up nicely.

This morning it was very clear, came home this evening and its now gone mega cloudy again.

My readings are :
PH = 0
AMONIA = 0
NITRITE = 0
NITRATE = 0

Can anyone explain whats going on ?

Here what you hope to see...

Ammonia will raise then drop, followed by the Nitrites raising and then dropping, then the Nitrate will soar - once the ammonia & nitrites are gone, then do water changes to reduce nitrates.

Ammonia > Nitrite > Nitrate

A lot depends on the state of you LR, here a good :read: http://www.reefsanctuary.com/forums...something-cycling-breaking-new-reef-tank.html

The clear cloudy clear cloudy may have been some bacteria bloom

Thanks for the update all,

That link is great info too.

I still don't understand why the tank is still so cloudy, many say the bacteria bloom, is there anything i can do to confirm this ?

I called a lfs today and they seem to say its because i have so much live rock ?

anyone able to help ?
