I recently got an rodi kit and want to test my nitrates coming from the tap first then my aquarium water. My question is do i need a freshwater nitrate test kit to test my tap or will the API saltwater test kit i use in my tank work??? What do you guys use fresh and salt kits for your rodi water???

I believe it will test both. If its like most tapwater, it may have some nitrates, but more common is Phosphates and Silicates(which arent commonly tested for).

The SW test kits have test for Calcium and Alk, which arent normally present or tested for in FW aquariums, because they arent as critical as amonia, nitrate, and PH.

Thanks i am wanting to figure out if my rodi kit takes out nitrates or not. I think i have a phosphate tester somewhere. I will look when i get off.

unless the unit is malfunctioning, a RO/DI will remove nitrates, phosphates, silicates in the carbon block, as well as neutralizing chlorine in all forms. The DI Section removes desolved metals and minerals.
