Question for RedSea Kev re NoPox

Hi Kev,

My water parameters are 0.5 Nitrate and 0.05 Phosphate.

What is your recommended NoPox dosage rate for a RedSea Max 500? Currently I am dosing 6ml.

Hi ajkdark, I need more information please and we'll start with your Salinity ideal parameters at 35 ppt are as follows.


Foundation Element levels for Low Nutrition and Rapid Growth Programs @ 35PPT.

Rapid Growth

• Calcium 465ppm
• Magnesium 1390
• Alkalinity 12.6
• No3 1 to 2 ppm
• Po4 0.08 ppm

Low Nutrient

• Calcium 430 ppm
• Magnesium 1310 ppm
• Alkalinity 8.2
• No3 0.25ppm
• Po4 0.02 ppm

Was dosing NoPox in ReSea Max 500 at 4 ml. Now reduced to 1 ml.
Cyano issues occurring Red Cyano on Rock and Sand.
Glass almost spotless.

Also, what lighting period do you recommend, for a standard 500 max with supplied tubes?

Hi ajkdark, ok, you are very close to our recommended growth foundation levels, I am going to suggest you reduce your No3po4-X dosage to 3ml as you could do with your No3 and Po4 rising slightly, I would monitor carefully say every 4 days and let us know how things go, there may be scope of a small tweak of the dosage again.

Is the red cyano a result of too much nopox and the redfield ratio being not ideal?

What lighting period would you recommend for a Red Sea max 500 with stock tubes?
