Protein skimmer making microbubbles

My Red Sea max 250 protein skimmer is making microbubbles I think there may be a small crack where they put the joint together in one of the corners. Has this happened to anyone else how do you fix it?

The only time I have experienced micro-bubbles is when the water level in the sump is too low. Trying lowering the gate into the sump a little and see if that makes a difference.

250 or C250? Mine makes microbubbles when I don't have the sump at the optimum level (pretty much what jringold is saying).
