Well at last its here.
Moved the 6' rift lake tank and decorated the living room.
The 250 arrived today and the RO unit is working overtime.
Hopefully live rock tomorrow.

Thanks for all the good wishes.
The tank is now almost there with salt water nearly up to temperature.
After the tank was put together I was left with a small black piece, which I have taken a picture of.
Does anyone have any ideas whether this is needed.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul;

It is the first time have seen this spare part. What is the production date of your RSM 250. Can it be some kind of pump device which was not included previously due to pump model?

Not sure on the production date where would I find it.
I think it came with the skimmer pump but I am not sure.

It's the 'pre-filter' for the Sicce skimmer pump. It's not needed but I'd fit it next time you remove the skimmer.

I think it's main purpose is to keep large items from entering the pump intake - snails, etc.

About 24hours after the intoduction of live rock. Here are my test results.

ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 2.5
PH 8.2
Calc 345ppm
phos 0
sg 1023

I was advised by my lfs to start the sg at 1023, I just wonder other than what changes what the best way of slowly raising it over the next couple of weeks will be. I guess the calcium reading is also low because of the low sg.

Thanks

Paul

If you make your own SW just make the next batch or two higher - maybe 1.026 or 1.028 and that will let you slowly raise it up.
