Finally the Melanarus Wrasse is inside the tank along with a second Diamond Goby. Both are doing very well (for what I can see with the cam hahaha).

The most impressive thing is how the dinos have receded as both Diamond Gobies are doing a great work, each took one side of the tank and have great personality.

I hope the Melanarus Wrasse will fest on the pyramid snails!

I have the UV filter and will installed in my next visit to the tank in 9 days.

I am back home and working in the tank, today we re-installed the chiller, installed the new 35 W UV filter and the auto feeder.

I should say the two Diamond Gobies are doing an awesome job. I estimate they have made the dinoflagellates recede to only 3% of the sand bed. That and the UV filter running from 7PM to 7AM should be enough to annihilate the remaining dinos.

All corals and fishes are doing good even an acro I accepted to host for it to recover. I also found by observing the tank yesterday the Melanarus Wrasse is only active in the afternoons and night, it is going to bed at 10PM when the lights go off. Here are some pics.

Here is the Melanarus Wrasse, he seems to be an afternoon fish, only shows up from 4PM to 10PM. I do not know if that is normal. But he seems to be happy and well adapted to the tank mates.

Mine gets up early, about 09:00, and goes to bed about 19:45, as regular as clockwork ! I've found it to be a peaceful fish. Doesn't hassle anyone else. I would highly recommend the Melanurus, especially for it's beautiful markings and colours.

Perhaps my guy is lazy? LOL he is a bit fat, I have been seeing him and he does look like attacking pyramid snails and other stuff on the rocks and make lots of dusting around.

Final report on the dinos.......

I won the war!!! My tank is completely free of dinos, this is is really a good feeling haha.

I hope they will never return now that the UV filter is working. This is how the tank looks today:

Very nice and beautiful white sand. What did you do to finally get rid of the dinos. Was it blackout and flow or something else ?

Two big things finished off the dinos:

1. The two diamond gobies are shifting and cleaning the sand bed all day long, The really earn their place in my tank.

2. The 35 W UV filter. I bought a filter with capacity for a 1,400 liter tank, of course mine is only 500 liters so is overkilling. This filter has its own pump so I did not have to make any additional piping for it in the sump. It is only working from 7PM to 7AM when the dinos are in the water column. I may put it to work the whole day. Do you have yours working all day?

Now the dinos are gone, I am starting to see more algae in the glass, it means nutrients are not being consumed, so my chaeto went back to the sump along with additional copepods I bought to help the tank fauna and keep my wrasses happy. [emoji2]

Well that’s great news.

Yes I run the UVC 24/7 and can’t see any reason not to. As long as the flow rate is correct it kills nasties in the water column.

Officially my Melanarus is not lazy anymore! He used to come out at around 4PM and go bed at 10PM since I bought him but the last 3 days he has been up from 10AM all the way to 10PM, maybe he was not comfortable with the tank mates. So officially he is not lazy anymore [emoji41].
