We have just started a 34 gallon red sea max. It really did seem like a good idea at the time. It has been going for 2 weeks. We added cured live rock at the end of week one and then added the cleaning crew (hermits, snails and 3 shrimp) a few days later. This was recommended by the LFS. We have been changing the water and measuring the levels as per the manual that came with the tank. I checked the levels yesterday and the only thing out of whack was the alkalinity (7.25). How do I correct this?

Hi Deb and Welcome to RS! Sorry but youll get this alot at first so here goes,to give you an answer we must have all the readings you took, what salt mix, any other additives etc, alkalinity is a slightly complicated thing as its affected by other factors, congratulations on your tank, pics would be great! Welcome to RS!! There is a lot of good reading in the beginners forum. Go through the stickies and you will learn a lot. Also, Bob Fenners book "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist" will benefit you a lot!
