Is anyone currently keeping orchid dottyback ??
I've read that it's easy to raise but sometimes is not compatible with other fish.
Is it true?

I've always stayed away from these fish because of the reputation for being aggressive.

Yes, they can be very aggressive. They are ok if your tank contains similarly aggressive fish, but they can be really nasty to gobies and similar passive fish.

In my opinion, a royal gramma or a black cap basslet is usually a better choice.

I have had both an orchid dottyback and an indigo dottybock.. My orchid was very peaceful to everyone..never tussled with any other fish/shrimp/crab/starfish...my indigo is the same way.. they are very curious fish and will swim everywhere, but in my tank there was never an issue...I have noticed they do appreciate a lot of rock work.. they love to dart in and out of holes, caves, etc...
They are beautiful fish! Good luck

The bigger the tank the easier it is to keep these fish w/passive fish. The smaller the tank the more issues with aggression can occur.
