New to Reefs

Hi Everyone,

I've been keeping tanks for roughly 10 years now, and am finally ready to make the jump into a reef tank. I'm going to be working with a 54 gallon corner tank and am going to be taking my time making sure I set it up properly so I can keep it for years to come, without the wife getting mad because it doesn't look pretty. All your help will be greatly appreciated, and trust me I'm going to need all of your opinions so that I get this right.

Currently I have just the tank and canister filter, but from the research I've done I need to ditch the canister and build a sump, so please help me understand how to build the overflow, and flow rate for this, and how to set up the sump so that I can have some nice reefs living in here.

I look forward to this adventure I'm about to embark on.
