Hi all,
I’m planing my first reef (540lt=142g) and I have already 2x150w AquaMedic Metal Halide light.
Would be enough for Reef 142g? I’m planing to use 2 bulbs of 14.000k

That amount of light is not even close to what you need for a reef tank of your size. Just to give you an idea, when I used MH on my tank of 125 gal, I use three 250w MH bulbs.

Also, by today's standards, MHs are well on their way out. The heat they produce and the cost of the electricity they consume is so great that you can usually buy new high end LED lighting on the cost savings alone.

Thank you! Also for the worm welcome!
Can you advise which led or T5 I can use for 500lt?
Fixture 8x54w T5 would be enough?
Which led fixture I can use?

What are the dimensions of your tank? That makes a big difference in what lighting you use.

Ok so that 5ft long, 2ft wide and 2ft tall.
Depends what your going to keep, soft, mixed or SPS only.

Softies can do well when for each 24" cube, we provide between 150-250 watts. So for your size you need at min, 3, or 450 watts total.

SPS have additional needs so say 4 - 250 watts.

You could also keep what you have and add 2 LEDs.

I checked another option that seems more or less the same price (1k more but may save money later) with new aquarium and not to convert mine.
I choose the following:

Red Sea max REEFER 425XL
Skimmer- BUBBLE KING SUPERMARIN 250
Cooler Hailea 500HC
Lights- T5 8X54W
TUNZE 6125, 6085 (do I need 2 or One is enough?)
Return pump will be- EHEIM 1262 (3400LT/H)

What do you think?
I’m planing soft and mixed in the beginning and maybe SPS later.

Thanks!

8-t5 will be fine and this is of course a better option
The only reason I don't use t5 anymore is they have to be replaced every 6-8 months and this is quite expensive.
Once all is in the tank, it's very hard to change so go as big as you can afford and have space for.
As for flow, more flow and varied directional flow is better especially SPS.
Good luck
