Hi all, it's been a long time since we've posted so here's our update:
We're in the early stages with our reef tank. We have a neon pineapple coral that is THRIVING! Our Pink Birdsnest coral is growing nicely, The candycane coral is continuing to grow and impress us, and last but not least, we have a green apple cap. There will be pics posted shortly (gotta get husband to stop watching for new life long enough to take pics of them :hammerhea ).
A little off topic but interesting to note: our Mandarin is growing and is AWESOME! We have copepods throughout the live rock but he also benefits daily from "hand feeding" via pipette - he seems to enjoy this process. The lil dude has a great personality and almost acts as if he wants us to pet him! We have three tailspot blennys to work on the algae. One doesn't realize he's an herbivore and eats the mandarins food. They are characters too. We test the water obsessively and are maintaining great values.
We do have a question about the apple cap. When we first got it, it was a pale green. Since then, it blanched out to a very light tan and is slowly getting a little darker almost olive-ish coloring. We see little white "bumps" that we think are polyps - they come and go (seem to "go" when we squirt water or food at it) - but the cap doesn't seem to have grown at all. We'd love to hear from anyone that has experience with these things - it's no where near what the Live Aquaria pic showed it should look like. We can't figure out if it's dead or not.
Got pics now so no need to wait .......
