lifting a red sea max 250

Congrats on the new 250 - start a tank thread & post us some pics so we can follow along !
As Jeff said... two people should be able to move it, I want to guess, the tank will be less than 200 pounds & the cabinet is separate, I don't think it should be a problem.

Having helped my hubby to lift the tank onto the stand (and being a pretty fit gal), for the sake of safety and blood pressure levels I would recommend two men rather than just two 'people' when you are talking about taking it up stairs. With two guys, you should be just fine.
BTW, FYI, most of this board is American so not everyone may not know that your 'first' floor is the American 'second' floor.

Hehe, I'm a bit confused on this question myself. I would say no, not really, except that online I occasionally get called 'mate' by people who I believe know I am female... I've never been called 'mate' offline, though.
Maybe it's kind of like dude - typically it's male, but some people will use it for women also (myself included!) but just in certain contexts... like I might say, "Hey dude" to a woman (friend!) but I wouldn't say "That dude over there" unless I were talking about a guy...
I'd love to hear a Brit opinion on the matter!

Hah! I always assumed "mate" was a male term also. I guess I wasn't totally wrong.
Glenn - apartments had also been called "flats" here in the US for ages, but I think the term isn't used that much anymore.
That's a new one on the second floor here being the first floor elsewhere. It can all get very confusing.

Thanks for your replies. I think we should manage.
There are two floors in my block of flats/apartments:
Ground floor (street level), first floor (middle block) & second floor (top block). There are six flats/apartments in my block, two on each floor. Does this help???
I move in on Friday and should start setting it up in the next couple of weeks.
I will have to learn how to post photos.
