Is anyone still active in this forum?

I don't usually start too many threads. I have noticed that for the last 8 months or so that there has been little or no activity on this forum. Interest seems to be way down. I have also noticed that none of the staff members have not been on for 8 months or more, and that issues reported about problem posts go unresolved.

So my question to everyone comes down to, is it worth bothering to look at this forum anymore? Is it time to move on?

I've been a member here almost since day 1, joining in Nov 2003. It was a great place to talk about all things in SW aquarium systems. I hope that maybe it can come back. Let me know your thoughts.

Hey Dave, I am a returning member. I haven't been active for years but still keep a reef setup. In fact, we met once at a local LFS and you were generous enough to pass along some AI led boards for 1st gen hydra's. They are still going strong. It's great to see at least one active member from when I was here.
My system has been on autopilot for many years with the APEX EL, regular husbandry and weekly water changes.

Hey Dave, I tried to respond to your post not so long ago....instead put it in your thread as a post. Oops. I am just coming back to this forum. We had met many years ago, and wanted to ramp up my involvement with my reef.

Hey Dave, largely I think FB groups, and now instagram, had a pretty devastating effect on forums (much to my dismay), then the migration of people to different forums. I think that RS has mainly fallen a bit to the wayside because of the lack of interaction. I log in like once or twice a year and clean up a bunch of spam and nonsense and I know a couple others have as well but it seems mostly a bit empty now. The last real run of posts I saw was Oct 2024 and there's been almost nothing since.

I never stopped reefing (or using forums) over all the years and have found a home on a different forum that is very reminscent of the peak of RS (Humblefish). I couldn't tell you why I stopped posting here, I genuinely don't remember any more. I don't really think there's much chance we could bring RS back as it's hard to compete with how pushy R2R is (I don't use it because of how they are behind the scenes), that and there are other forums with more consistent engagement. So as much as I'd love to see things build back up, I realistically don't think it's likely. However, I am more than happy to be proven wrong!

First, I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner. I don't check this forum too much anymore.

Very little activity here, but I will try and check it more often.

Lately I haven't been up to doing too much on my reef system, so the whole thing looks like a big algae farm, and I'm down to only one or two fish.

If I can gat a few things fixed up in the system, maybe we can make a field trip to one of the more or less local aquarium stores again.

You bring up some good points. I think part of the problem is that you also need an active staff. They need to take care of the trolls and spam posts. In addition sometimes it helps for staff members to psot threads to get people talking.
