High Calcium!! need Help

I'm new here.I'm facing very high calcium recently. And i lost my green star polyps, it's seem doesn't open much and mat starting to melt down. The salt i currently using is Seachem salt.

how high is high need to test water an post, if you give us ALK an CAL will help see what balance you have also so get those # and someboby can help

Hi there,

my cal is over 520mg/l(ppm). By the way what do u mean by AKL? Is it kh ?

My KH is 9dkh .

Boomer is our water chemistry expert; you might try pming him; also, BigAl should be able to advise you.

My 2 cents: In my experience, if you maintain your dkh at 9, the calcium will gradually come down on its own, unless you're overdosing with kalkwasswer or a calcium supplement. If you want to bring it down faster, do some water changes using Instant Ocean salt, which has lower calcium than the Seachem probably does.

Your tank is okay with that Ca level, just let it come down by itself, many members and myself have had Ca in the high 500. What did you use to get it thet high and what is your PH?

All my calcium level comes with the water changes. the salt is seachem salt and i didn't even dose any calcium liquid into my fish tank

Testing error more then likely, what test kit are you using?
Yes Alk is Kh or Dkh, what is your PH. I dought it was do to high Ca!!! And be glad GSP can become a weed!!!!! and has a very strong sting to other Corals. So what else did you do?
Here is a list of what I measured for the big three in a number of the salt mixes we use today. This is intended as a guideline and I, in no way, guarantee these figures. All I can say is they were all tested under the same conditions, with a number of different brand test kits, using the same methods for each test. I believe these numbers are reasonably what you can expect from these salts mixed at 35 ppt or SG 1.0264 @ 25 C.

The test kit im using niw is Api test kit. Ermm, i never test my ph before as the LFS told me that just test kh will do. Thanks for the list. I think i will go for instant ocean.
