I am curious if anyone had dead corals and liverocks out of the water for a few months and placed back into the tank come back alive?

Can corals survice this ordeal?

A had a assumed dead goniopora "rock" reused from a heap in the garden and used it as a pedastal for my duncanopsammia.

After a few days it turned out a surprise.

hey Glenn,

Hope you're doing well sir. I never would believe it could be true, but nature does have its ways of throwing us curveballs. If this is truly the case you could be on to a new discovery thanks to this wonderful hobby we all enjoy so much! Curious, wondering if you threw that Goni skeleton out because you thought it was dead, originally?

Perhaps a university or some other research lab would be interested... :)

It seems nature have it's way in conserving live.

After my tank has outgrown itselve with corals the lower sections became overschadowed, which created a problem for corals underneath.
Due to light and flow limitation the base died
So i did a rescape and remove all (assumed) dead sections and tossed them on a heap in the garden for later use.

Coral surviving after 4 months sitting outside in a rock pile in the Netherlands... that's crazy talk. :D

Amazing if that's what has in fact happened... I'm staying tuned here. :coffee2:

This is extreme, already reefers have come forward with corals that were asummed dead for months that came back to live once conditions improved.

That is awesome, I guess they can retain enough moisture and “hibernate” fir long enough!

Question on your Anthias, you QT them at all? Have a history of losing them one by one?

So it seems...

I don't quarantine anthiases. ( only tangs and Butterflies).

In time 1-3 years the group get smaller untill there is none left. Problably dominance and/or lifespan

Is this a new scientific discovery that has been documented by of one of Reef Sanctuary's well-known members?!!
