Duncan skin getting patchy

My duncan corals outer green layer has started getting patchy looking. He is spending more time closed up recently at odd times of the day.

Any ideas?

What kind of fish/invertebrates do you have in the tank? It almost looks like something has been picking at it.

It might be the clownfish. I had one destroy a Duncan coral one time. The constant interaction just became too much. If I fed the Duncan, the clownfish was relentless on getting that food. Definitely keep your eyes peeled.

What exactly are your parameters btw? Does your alkalinity remain stable, or does it bounce around a lot?

I cut the top off a water bottle and put that over my duncan then squirt the food into the opening. My clown picks at bottle trying to get the food away from my duncan. That trick works great for me
