dosing pump general silly question - setup question

I have general question about dosing pump ... if we are to go specific, model is Jebao DP4.

I intend to dose via dosing pump to sump.

My question is: does the dosing pump need to be at a higher level than the sump for it to work properly?

I don't intend to purchase the bracket (if I don't need to) and the plan was just to put it on a coffee table beside the sump. Will this work?

Will it lose against the gravity and not dose?

it would be best to buy the shelf for peace of mind. But i dont see any reason as to why it wont work on a table beside your tank.

It should work fine from anywhere. For safety, just be sure your chemical reservoir is below the tank and don't extend the dosing lines all the way into the sump water. This will prevent a chemical siphon into the tank or a back siphon from the tank into the chemicals.
