Maroon With Swim Bladder Problems

I had a maroon clownfish who developed swim bladder disorder. She could not maintain neutral buoyancy. She could only swim up and when she stopped swimming she sank to the bottom. She just struggled, causing her to swim constantly. I could not get her out of the tank and I had no way to treat her. UNTIL, we added olive oil to her frozen food. This based on the possibility that she was constipated. It worked. In less than 24 hours she recovered. Now she is fine. I read everything I could find on swim bladder disorder. This was the only suggestion that was non-invasive and would not hurt other tank mates and corals. I hope this is helpful. Greetings - ck

Thanks for posting CK and welcome to RS!! I really hope this anecdotal evidence rings true. I always prefer a natural, non-toxic remedy.

Interesting... I think if a fish is constipated then food soaking olive oil might help things to slide out. ;)
