I tried to count the tentacles per polyp? 12 tentacles it is an Alveopora, 24 tentacles it is a Goniopora. Both corals are very hard to keep successfully, especially the Goniopora.

Thanks mike
I've researched goinopora and refuse to buy it but unfortunately i bought the alveopora before knowing what it was lesson learnt :(
Should I take it back to my lfs or do do you have any tips for me to keep it alive?
Thanks for your quick reply

Well, Alveopora are a little better to keep than Goniopora. Alveopora can be killed by bright light. Put it on the bottom or in the shade at first. They prefer "dirty" water. Using GFO or the like can kill them. Feed it every other day at least with a very small phytoplankton substitute.

I can remember starting out & one of my 1st impulse coral buys was a goni - I post a pic here & everyone told me they were difficult, he looked great for 3-4 months, slowly receded & died at about a year. Lesson learned

I see as Mike said some members having better success with Alveopora - it's very pretty !
