Cleaning proflex filter socks?

Looking to find the best/safest way to clean my aqueon Proflex sump filter socks. I have 2 pairs and maybe looking to get a 3rd. Any way to detach the plastic ring?


Last time I soaked in vinegar and washed on hot the air dried.

I just take them and run them through the washing machine using a normal cycle and no soap or bleach or other cleaners, just water. Then let them air dry.

Some people like to use bleach but I have found this to be unnecessary.

The plastic rings a fused to the filter sock and can not be removed.

I'm with Dave K, I run a short cycle to flush any detergent residue then wash the socks. I do use a little bleach though. Next round I will take DaveK's advice and nix the bleach.
