Changing sand for crushed coral

I've had a tank set up for about a year now and the substrate is currently sand. My question is, I don't like the sand anymore and want to replace it all with crushed coral/ coral gravel. Can I remove all the sand and then put the coral gravel straight it or would this have a negative effect on the aquarium ie causing a cycle again? The reason I don't like the sand is the water never looks completely clear and there are fish and shrimps that disturb it and send it into the water column. I have heard about seeding the new crushed coral but how would like work?
Thanks.

Hi Mania
Sounds to me like you started your tank with sand that was way too fine. I did that also, but I added a bigger grain in & mixed with it and it fixed the problem and stopped it from blowing around too easily.
I would NOT recommend changing to crushed coral either like mentioned in Glenn's post above. I like the Caribsea Special Grade and I think it looks way better than crushed coral also. :)
VERY BEST WISHES....:cruiser:
