Are you talking about an infestation of the coral, as in it taking over everything, or as an infestation of something brought in with the coral, such as flatworms?

The coral itself. I have a frag right now and I like it but i've heard horror stories of it taking over the tank. Is there anyway to prevent this?

Aside from keeping your eyes peeled and removing any branches that may have fallen, I've always kept mine in check by cutting the top off on a regular basis. They always seem to grow back given time. GL.

Just keep it trimmed back, and you'll be fine. If that fails, you can always remove it or frag it.
