So the concept is that corals grow via cellular Division. Cellular division is actually stopped because of calcium in the cell, but the coral has a calcium pump that pushes the calcium ion to its outer wall, from this point the alk in the water that flows between the tissue and the skeleton...

Anthias...Do's and Do not's in keeping them

Just think Highander, their can only be one. So if you get two males one will most likely revert if not they will fight and then their will be only one. On the feeding, I make my own so its tough to tell you exactly what they went for. If you do a search on Blender mush on this board I believe I...

Anthias...Do's and Do not's in keeping them

You really have to research the different kinds as some do well in tanks and some do not. Most of the common ones such as dispar, lyretail, and so on will eventually convert to foods but some such as tukas and similar have a history of not. When you get a school one of the females will turn into...

    DIY LED build thread

Yep we had working models up and testing prior to this one starting. So a couple of things, one is we have never needed to turn the fixture up over 50% power as we were getting 500 par at 12 inches. Which is as high a par I would ever want in the tank, anything beyond that and your cooking. So...

Heat transfer Al. thats the whole concept of using the Al. To be honest their is not a lot of heat that comes off these things anyway, even with out the fans. I cant take credit for the craftmanship on this one nano, I leave that end to Guerry. We talk about it but he performs it. Willie...

    DIY LED build thread

Ok so a little update. So the wiring is done on the heat sinks now. Time to spread them out so we can get the going of the frame work that will hang over the tank. So the fixture will span 7 feet, so we will have about a 2 inch gap between each 12 inch pad. Their will be a 6 inch...

Thought I would post up some of the pictures of the LEds going together in case anyone decided to give it a shot themselves. Got all the emitters and wire and pre tinted them, this way you dont loose so much heat to the sinks when doing the final solder then cut all the wire to the required...

    Tearing it down

Thanks for all the kinds words folks I do appreciate. I would say theirs about 600 lbs???? But I did it in kind of a different manner. So on the closed loops which are two 5600gph pumps on motorized ball valves I have about 24 outputs into the tank, this takes up about 6 inches of the back of...
