Nobby's S-650

Be curious to see how it looks once you get them glued in. It is really hard to visualize what it will look like filled with coral when you are scaping. This seems like a solid plan to course correct.
Yeah, I'm not looking to make big changes but just provide a 'ledge' of rock here and there. I do find it difficult to make corals stick to a vertical bit. Plus, there are shaded areas where a little ledge sticking out will help a frag grow. I'm really happy with my scape, but I can see there are a few areas where I can 'help' things.

I still haven't started with the small ledges yet. I'll provide pictures when I get round to it.

In the meantime, I was giving the fish their weekly very close inspection to just check that things are ok, and I noticed something. They are fat. The Coral Beauty is a right chunky thing. I think in human terms it's obese ! None of the Wrasse would ever win Slimmer of the Year Awards either ! I get the impression that they are eating very well !

That is an indication that you are spoiling them!

Good job. [emoji1360]

I feed frozen every day, usually four of five cubes, plus live Blackworm twice a week, and twice a week I put in a sheet of dried seaweed in a clip. The frozen is usually Mysis, Krill, Plankton, Spiranula and a general mixture cube.
They do like the live Blackworm's though. They get eaten very very quickly !

Six months....yes, it has been six months since I added the RTBA. It did move initially, but after two days it found it's spot, and it has stayed there. It has grown...and grown...and grown. It obviously has found a great spot.
So why the bloody hell did it decide to go walkabouts yesterday ! I'm not talking about moving a few inches, but literally walking around a big piece of rock ! In Anemone terms it was sprinting ! Does it think the grass is greener (or in aquatic terms the water is bluer) somewhere else?

Red Sea have now announced the release of their LED's, the ReefLED 50 and 90.
The prices look good compared to the Hydra HD26's I currently have on my S-650. However, I'm not going to go out and buy them just to replace the current lights. However, I would be interested in them over time, especially if the current lights start to fail at some point. I like the look of the recess in the unit, which it claims reduces light spillage, as this is something She Who Casts No Shadow complains about.
I understand that it also retro fits into the current light assembly on the S Series tanks.
With the Red Sea Skimmers getting some mixed reviews, it'll be interesting to see the reviews for these lights.

Lol, perhaps it decided it had enough of its old house?

How is it doing now?

It's still moving. Last night though, at lights out, it did appear as though it was 'heading home' to it's normal spot, but you never know !
I'm off on holiday in eight days time, so I hope it's settled down by then. As usual I'm starting to get the tank prepared for the break. When I go away I have to rely on my 82 year old Mother-In-Law to watch things. Basically, all she has to do is chuck four or five cubes of frozen into the tank every day. I don't even get her to de-frost them, just chuck them in as they are. The fish soon break them up. The temporary extra ATO will be set-up. It's just a 100 liter plastic box thingy and I run a Tunze Ozmolator from there into the re-fill opening for the normal ATO. So the ATO will have 138 liters. That will cover for the 12 days I am away. I will remove the floss from the media cups as well, so that is something she doesn't have to change. Apart from that, it's fingers crossed as always.

All that is left to do is pack my sunglasses and Mankini, and I'm ready !

We're off to the Dominican Republic. If you're serving, don't forget, no ice with the G&T thanks. Oh, and any chance of an upgrade?

I might, just might be able to get a few dives in. I had to stop due to my heart attack, but I'm going through the medical process to get permission to dive again. Everything is looking good at the moment, and I now have a last appointment with the dive specialist doctor next Tuesday, where hopefully I'll be given the all-clear ! I won't be able to take all my gear so I'll have to hire it, and that actually makes me a bit nervous. There is a certain 'comfort feel' about using the stuff you know and love.

It's war. I am a human being (stop sniggering at the back!). I am at the top of the food chain. I refuse to be beaten by an animal that doesn't even have a brain!

It's the RBTA. Over the weekend it has been whizzing around the tank like Lewis Hamilton on crack cocaine ! At one point I had to reach in and lift it back to it's original position. After covering at least half the tank there must have been a position where the light/flow was good.......unless.......the RBTA is female ! It's never satisfied.
I managed to pick it up very easily as it had not anchored it's foot onto a rock, but the two Clowns attacked my hand like two kamikaze pilots.

I think the next logical move is just to totally ignore it. It craves the attention, so I'm not going to give it any !

Don't believe you! lol

Problem is they can sting and kill corals when they start wandering. The ones i have now have stayed put (so far!) but i had another one that was taken back to the shop as it was wandering all over my corals and stinging them

Anyway, very amusing! lol

Got in from work last night and I totally blanked the RBTA. I didn't say hello or even look at it.
I did have a quick peek from across the room, out of the corner of one eye, and I can see that it is now sulking at the back of the rockwork. Ha, that'll teach it !

I'm off tomorrow on holiday, but the Anemone is not showing any signs of slowing down. It did sit in the same spot for a couple of days, but last night once again it began moving. It eventually ended up (at lights down) deep inside the 'fish bedroom' which is the main cave the majority of them sleep at nights!

Nothing I can really do now. I don't want to remove it as it really is a beautiful coral. I can only cross my fingers and hope that when I return there is no significant damage to any other corals and that it has found a place where it is happy. I'm worried that the constant movement means that it is not happy and if that's the case could it die off? I'm actually considering putting it in the Fish Trap while I'm away. If I left a gap big enough for the Clowns to get in........which means that the Anemone could also get out.....

Nice to see you are getting relaxed and ready to leave the system while your away, to the menace Anemone, aka the coral killer! lol

I just have to not worry too much and accept the fact that 'something' may happen in the tank. I just have to hope that it's not too bad.......but you always fear the worst !

Go and enjoy your holiday, but I know exactly we’re your coming from. We spend that much time and money on these systems, your always holding your breath.

Even though I have Apex to tell me things, I still worry a little if there is no one home to help if something fails.
