Misc parts arrived last night. So today i will be installing the new car parts and then working on this project. Debating posting a couple pictures in here and then starting a separate build thread for easy reference to others.... not sure yet... But this will be making life so much easier in the future!

Things are progressing, but of course it's another trip to the hardware store...

Reached my stopping point last night. Had to head to HD again, but I should have everything now.

Still trying to decide on a pump, but I am going to attempt to use my Since 3.0 for now.

Well thought I got it all done, but I have a leak at the T somewhow. Of course it didn't show when I sltested it, only when I filled it with saltwater. Joy... But at least it looks great [emoji23]

The hose arrived around 8pm from Amazon so i got to use the new system for its first water change. The Sicce 3.0 gets the water to the tank, but wow it barely moves it through the line. So i will be searching for a new pump. Other than that, it worked as designed and wow was it nice not lifting anything other than the hose!

Another update for the group, if you are going to build a water station like this, be sure to have a float valve. I opted to put one in even though i will not be leaving the water on. This way i can bulk make the water and not have water sitting in my RODI unit 24/7. I decided to use a float valve in case i want to do some other things and not "watch" the system.

My wife came home Monday night and we decided to go out for dinner. Things went well and i ended up forgetting that i had the system running. I walked out this morning and noticed that the tank was filled to the top, which i was not planning on doing.

Thankfully the float valve did its job and both containers (waste and RO) were full but not overflowing.

Want your input!!!

I am going to be cutting out the bad joints on my water station and replacing PVC. So i am debating just going back to the local hardware store and buying what i need, or ordering colored PVC and unions for the garage system.

So... what do you think?

1) White PVC
2) Red PVC w/ grey fittings (same setup as i am doing on my sump this weekend)
3) Orange PVC w/ blue fittings (GO GATORS)
4) Other...

Pricing is about 12$ to fix the bad unions that i have now and full colored replacements range from $43 to 65$ depending on color choices for the unions. If i go with option 2 its low 40's, 3 and 5 = higher cost.

Update on the tank. Still fighting a minor but annoying algae problem and the sailfin is healing... Kinda...

But the corals look great!

I am having an issue with green hair algae and i am starting to lose the fight. It all started when i introduced some old live rock in my tank. It was confined to these two pieces, which i have since pulled from the tank.

Last night i found it on a rock in the back and even on my urchin. Water parameters are below and my lights are on for about 7 hours. Any thoughts on a good way to remove it without pulling the remaining rock?

That said i will be removing as much as possible by hand and reducing the feed schedule as much as i can while i try to rehab my tang.

Whats different this time for me, is i know where the source came from and have removed it, so now its just to get the last amount out. I should have acid washed that rock, but didnt and that is on me.

Hair algae usually needs only 2 things to survive - phosphates and/or red light (turn red LEDs off or go with a higher Kelvin rating white bulb - the lower the Kelvin --> the more red it contains). Reducing both is a surefire way to make it die.

I haven't had a hair algae issue since 2002! I'd be perfectly comfortable putting a rock covered in the stuff in any of my aquariums, knowing it will die off in about 2 weeks as would 'starve' like clockwork.

just took red out of the script. I will let you know.

Also, found out why my mixing station was leaking... the neck on the Sicce was cracked, so a new pump has been ordered... joy

The new pump should be in today, so hopefully that goes well. I ended up making an unplanned run last night to pick this guy up and help get him to his new home. It was fun, but i am wiped out from the driving and lack of sleep. Hopefully i can still finish this project tonight.

Losing a little bit of patience with the water station. Got the new pump hooked up and plumbed, but now i am leaking from different fittings. Before i tear it apart and redo it for the third time, i am going to see if i can weld or seal these fittings separate from the glue. Guess i should have paid more than $4.50 for glue this time around...

On an interesting note, we bought an Emerald crab years ago that we never see. Always thought he was dead and just forgot about him. I went to pull a rock to bring to the fish store for credit, and found several crab claw malts in the rock holes. Looks like he is still around somewhere... so the rock is sitting in my QT tank to see if he makes an appearance out of it :D

So the algae is spreading and my anenome ate my little sea hare. I also found out that the reduction of red lights didn't take when I sent the update before. So I fixed that last night.

I also added some new combatants to the army.

1 large sea hare, 2 Caribbean red leg lged hermits and 2 more emeralds. The emeralds dropped in and went straight to work. It was fun to watch.

I was very nervous to drop $150 at the LFS and then leave town for a week. Why? Well, we all know what happens when you stop watching your tank...

But to my excitement, i came home to a healthy tank and almost 100% of the GHA gone. I just posted in my local forums to get my sea hare re-homed and he may be leaving tonight. The crabs are all out and busy working and the tank looks better than i imagined it would. I will attempt to take some photos tonight.

The only remaining algae is by the nem and on my urchin. Torn on how to resolve the urchin situation, but i will be manually removing the remaining GHA to avoid starving out the hare.

The trip was amazing, and had some truly breathtaking views. Pictures coming when i am back on my phone again.

Thank you all
