Well water is in. This is a pic running. Also of just the sump while running. And the last pic is my mock "power outage"

If/should??? I take more water out of the sump so it uses the first baffel a little better? Will the water go down in the display? I really can't have it go down any in the display backseat it's only tight to the bottom of the trim.

Thanks

hello Nrs, You can drop the water level in the sump to the height of the wall of the return/pump section. The water level in the tank is set by the overflow. What kind of overflow do You have? Can You get a pic for us?

Overall, things look good. However, you do want to get rid of the S curve in the drain pipe. This can caise a problem with noise and with flow, because it becomes something of a trap, as in trap in a sink drain.

How would I go about doing that? I have it resting on a piece of plexiglass.....

Also is 1 large shrimp enough to start a cycle and can I put it in the filter sock?

it's the dip in the center. The hose is a little too long. Can you tie it up under the stand somehow? As for the shrimp I'd think a medium or small shrimp at 1st would work just fine. If the shrimp is too big for the water volume it can stink a little. You can put it in a filter sock. Or some type of small mesh bag. like cheese cloth or nylon stocking . Something like that.

Are you using an overflow box ? Also your retun line in your tank does this go in the water over over the water line. You need to be careful if it is in as you can have a suckion back if your power goes and flood the sump. As said i would fix the dip in the supply hose to the sump. Could you take a few pictures of the supply line and the overflow box and also the return line going into the tank please. A normal shop shimp is enough let it rot away and keep checking for the spike in amonia :) once you see this go down check your n02 for the spike and as this decreases watch for your no3.

Does this look ok for sump level or should I let it go lower?

Also how do I keep my filter sock from floating? I had the shrimp in the sock bit now it's just in the bottom of the sump is that ok? Or should it be in the display?

As long as you have enough space in the sump incase there is any back syphon if your return pump was to shut down the level should be fine.
