Can anyone help with an id for this fish? LFS guy said it was a red barred goby but it looks like maybe a cryptic wrasse to me. These pics dont due him justice as it was just after putting him my wee QT tank. Hes a deep solid red color unless nervous and then seems to camo up.

Not sure off hand.
First thing comes to mind is a type of Serranus species.
Can you please post a couple more pics. Need pics not in camo!
Looks like the dorsal spines and rays are fused on the fish, which means it isn't a goby (Gobiidae family). How many dorsal spines and rays does the fish have?

It is a wrasse. It is a juvenile or a she. Juveniles and female wrasses can be hard to ID, b/c similar species can look alike. Is the pic on post #7 your fish or a pic you pulled off the web?

Yeah, it looks like a Cirrhilabrus jordani:

But, the Cirrhilabrus walshi, Cirrhilabrus condei, and Cirrhilabrus claire are also very similar to the pics you have above (in the juvenile or female phase).

BTW the juvenile look splotchy all the time. Females can look splotchy when stressed or in hiding. And the Cirrhilabrus claire has a purple hue, so maybe she is this species.

Shes eating well and seems healthy. Comes out to visit without having a panic attack and has discovered the joy of an ABS pipe.

Another week in the QT for her.

Water change tonight so im sure she will not be happy with me.

Ms Wrasse is settling in and her colors are a lot more prominent. She has a small purple/blue band across top of her head, thin blue horizontal lines on body and a white belly and prominent white tip on her nose which sorta looks like large upper and lower teeth?

She doesnt think much of camera yet so maybe on weekend i can get a better pic.

Kinda speculation but checking my LFS website they were selling Cirrhilabrus rubriventralis and the below pic looks a lot like what my wrasse currently looks like except mine has a bit of white on her belly.

Yes, it does look like it is a Cirrhilabrus rubriventralis. But it is still young, which is indicated by the black spot. I'd keep in mind that the Cirrhilabrus from the red sea look like this one here:

But, seems there is a similar species found off of kenya that is similar, but has the yellow and white belly and the stripes and spots are a little different as well:
