Do test kits go bad?

Title kinda saysnit all. I have been without a tank forma long time but still have all my stuff. Does the liquidnin the test kits have a shelf life?

I would say YES....Simply because they are dated to expire at the end of their "shelf life". You can test with them and not trust the results. Very unfortunate because they are usually not cheap to replace.
I don't test my water very often because everything looks healthy...I do need to check the tests that I have & replace only the ones I feel I need on hand.

I agree with the others. The chemicals in test kits do go bad. It's best to replace the test kits.

Look at it this way. Do you really want to put your livestock at risk, knowing that it will cost you a lot of time and money to replace them? This goes double when you figure the cost of normal test kits isn't that much.

Well i don't have any critters yet I'm still cycling. But my test are reading ammonia and nitrite. They are very old tho. I guess I'll have to just buy some new ones
