Dealing with the summer heat - and losing. Decided to add an Ice Cap fan in the light bar. Made rails out of aluminum angle stock.

Painted black and bolted to the fan (with loctite). Looks pretty pro.

The fan has a thermistor that regulates speed. To put it on full I tucked it into the heat sink of a neighboring light. May not need it on full however and if it performs well may run it on slow for a quieter operation. One day’s work, all items on hand. Best kind of project. And my wife wonders why I stockpile!

That's a good project. Keep an eye on the amount of salt creep you get around your tank. That can play havoc with any electronic or metal stuff around your tank.

Heat is really high these days, I hope your project works!

So far it is able to knock the tank temp down during the afternoon heat. I’m going to try tomorrow with it on slow / quiet mode.

Also thinking a hit putting one over my house!

Thanks. I’ll keep an eye on the creep! The lights are up there too so hopefully no worse.
