Hi everybody,
I have an older type RSM250, all T5s with hood. The ballast in the center (used by the third and fourth bulb) just failed, and we have been thinking it might be a good opportunity to "try out" LEDs. This is my "relaxed" tank, mostly softies with some LPSs, nothing tricky or demanding a lot of lights.
We are looking for an easy to install - and a reasonably priced - LEDs to see how we like them, especially that we are thinking of upgrading to a 200G in 1-2 years.
So far we have been considering a Reef Brite 36" stripe
1) Actinic Blue Tech ($209)
or
2) Lumi Lite Actinic Blue ($85)
I understand I would also need Slim Line T5/LED mounting brackets ($28).
Has anybody tried such mod? Experience? Better ways to achieve partial switching to LED?
We are not ready to switch completely to LEDs or invest more than ~$250 to replace 2 T5s.
Looking forward to all comments and suggestions.
